Bill: 39, Hillary: 9
Back in 2013, Hillary Clinton gave a speech to the Women in the World Summit. In this snippet from her speech, she extolls the virtues of being a strong woman of the world:
“I have always believed that women are not victims, we are agents of change, we are drivers of progress, we are makers of peace … “
We are not, however, answerers of questions — we let our husband’s do our dirty work. Wait, what?
In another instance of Hillary not practicing what she preaches, she has yet to give an interview or hold a press conference since announcing her candidacy over a month ago. On this week’s Meet the Press, host Chuck Todd pointed out that, by their calculations, Hillary had answered nine measly questions to Bill’s thirty-nine.
Former Clinton and Obama advisor David Axelrod pointed out to Todd that is was a calculated — but perhaps ultimately unwise — move:
So, let me get this straight. Hillary is an empowered, game changing woman who has to rely on her husband to answer the difficult questions? Hillary is willingly succumbing to the Patriarchy™? Will Bill be her press secretary if she’s elected? Will he answer the 3am phone call? Is Hillary ANYTHING AT ALL without Bill?
If she doesn’t have the cojones to face the media — and hides behind her husband — what in the world makes Hillary qualified to be president?
