Unidentified armed citizen pulls gun on burglary suspect beating an Oklahoma Police Officer with his own baton
An unidentified armed citizen may have saved the life of rookie Oklahoma City police officer Adam Eller last Tuesday, after he and his field training officer Sgt. Michael Lambert responded to a burglary call, according to Oklahoma City’s News 9.
The two burglary suspects are twins — Tremaine and Jermaine Williams. Tremaine fled the scene by the time the two officers arrived, but a chase ensued when his brother Jermaine saw the officers and fled on foot. During the chase, the officers were separated, and it was Eller who first caught up to the suspect. Jermaine resisted arrest, and during the struggle, secured Eller’s baton and proceeded to beat him over the head with it. He struck the officer an estimated 6-12 times before an unidentified armed citizen approached the suspect and ordered him to drop the baton or be shot.
Officer Eller was rushed to OU Medical Center, treated for a serious head injury, was released Wednesday and is expected to make a full recovery.
The Williams brothers were taken into custody, and the still unidentified armed citizen is the real hero in this story. It is very possible he saved the life of Officer Eller.
