#WomenBetrayed rallies gather nationwide, demand immediate defunding of #PlannedParenthood
Today, all across the United States, more than 12,000 Americans advocating for the most innocent among us joined in protest against Planned Parenthood, demanding that taxpayer funding cease immediately for the nation’s largest abortion provider. The rallies, launched by Students for Life of America (SFLA) and Pro-Life Future, took place in more than 65 cities and went viral on Twitter via the #womenbetrayed hashtag.
An estimated 500 people showed up at the Capitol Hill rally, including Dr. Ben Carson, blogger Matt Walsh, Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Rand Paul (R-KY).

The rallies were held in direct response to two videos released recently by the Center for Medical Progress that show horrific footage of Planned Parenthood officials Deborah Nucatola, Senior Director of Medical Services, and Mary Gatters, Medical Directors’ Council President, discussing the harvesting of and haggling over prices for fetal tissue and organs. The third and most recent video, released today, is by far the most disturbing. SGP’s own Elizabeth Vale wrote:
The most disturbing part of the documentary is an undercover video, at a Planned Parenthood clinic, where the doctor is procuring the “tissue” from an 11.6 week old baby. In the video, we can see the doctor pulling out kidneys and neural tissue. Later an image inserted in the video shows a perfectly formed hand and foot procured from the baby.
Around the same time the third video was being released, Senator Cruz spoke to the #womenbetrayed D.C. crowd, demanding that the U.S. Department of Justice investigate “whether Planned Parenthood nationally is a criminal enterprise breaking the law.”
“These are videos of senior Planned Parenthood officials laughing, swilling Chardonnay and casually, callously, heartlessly bartering and selling body parts of unborn children. I would encourage every American to watch these videos, regardless of your view of the right to life. Even if you are a supporter of abortion, I would encourage you to watch these videos and just ask a simple question: Are these my values?”
Are they, America? Are they our values?
What exactly will it take to end this holocaust, and how is it that any human being with a heart can argue that a fetus is not a human being, given the fact that their little organs are being harvested to sell to the highest bidder? Do you want your hard-earned dollars to continue funding this organization to the tune of more than a half billion dollars every year?
“…there is no ambiguity in what we’re seeing, and when we see the truth, after a time for truth comes a time for action. Today is a time for action…” said Senator Cruz.
He’s right. The time to defund Planned Parenthood is right now. We urge you to light up the phones of the members of Congress that represent you and let them know exactly where you stand on the very important issue of life, because really…the very lives of the unborn depend on it.
