The President Needs to Learn a Little Respect

In what is being dubbed as the President’s “latte salute”, Barack Obama gave what looked like a less than enthusiastic “salute” to Marines this morning with his coffee cup as he stepped off Marine One in New York City. On his way to the United Nations, the President no doubt had plenty on his mind.

I am well aware that the President is under no obligation to offer a salute to any man or woman in uniform. In fact, I believe President Ronald Reagan is the guy who first offered the salute to those that served him in this capacity. While I realize we nitpick far too much on both sides of the aisle over matters that deserve virtually no attention whatsoever, this gesture - or lack thereof - is indicative of a bigger problem. Our President has demonstrated time and time again that he has little respect for the men and women that serve under his command, and this is yet another pathetic example.
